The Cars

Pre-war Bugattis
to turbo-era Brabhams

The grids are organised by the ACM by era and engine. Pre-war Grand Prix Bugattis, Maseratis and ERA cars. 1950s front-engined F1 Maseratis, Lotuses and BRMs. The gold-and-black 1970s Lotus 72s in the magic hour. And the turbo-era 1980s Formula 1 cars that closed the era, on the same circuit they raced when they were new.

Why the connoisseurs go

The same streets,
a fraction of the crowd

The modern Monaco Grand Prix is a wall of people at your elevation. The Historique is a quieter, more serious crowd, many of them in the paddock between sessions an arm’s length from cars worth a fortune. Period overalls. Period helmets. Drivers who raced these cars when they were new.

You can stand at the hairpin while a 1970s Formula 1 car comes through it sideways, and walk the paddock between sessions. None of that happens when the modern circus arrives. This is the version of Monaco the regulars actually look forward to.

What's different from the modern Monaco GP?
