Black tie at The Peninsula on the Wednesday of British Grand Prix week. Champagne, dinner, Formula 1 cars in the room, and a charity auction before the music starts.

By the Wednesday of race week the sport has already moved to London, and the Ball is the evening it lands in one room. Several hundred guests in black tie, a Belgravia ballroom, and a guest list that has long mixed the current paddock with past champions and names from well outside motorsport.
The cars come too. A line-up of Formula 1 machinery is set out through the evening, which is the part nobody expects and everybody photographs.
How the
night runs
Doors, dinner and the auction all sit on the organisers' running order, which is confirmed nearer the date. The shape of the evening does not change much.

Champagne on arrival
A reception as the room fills and the cars are uncovered. This is the hour everyone spends walking the floor.

Three courses from The Peninsula's kitchen, with wine on the table and champagne alongside it.

The cars, up close
Formula 1 machinery set out through the room, from cars that raced decades ago to the current era. No ropes, no queue.

The auction
Lots go under the hammer for the evening's charity partner. Bidding is optional and the theatre of it is not.

Then the room turns
Live music and a DJ after dinner. Most of the room is at Silverstone by the weekend, so nobody is in a hurry to leave.

What is the dress code?
Black tie, and it is taken seriously. Dinner jackets for men, evening dress for women. It is one of the few nights in the motorsport calendar where nobody is in team kit.
Who is usually in the room?
The Ball has long drawn people from the current Formula 1 paddock alongside past champions, and guests from business, sport and entertainment. Who actually appears is confirmed by the organisers closer to the night, so we would rather not put names on a page eleven months out.
What does the evening include?
A champagne reception on arrival, dinner with wine, champagne at the table, the Formula 1 line-up through the room, the charity auction and entertainment after dinner. Anything beyond the evening itself, rooms for the night or the race weekend that follows, we can add.
Can we take a table?
Yes, and it is the usual way people come, whether that is entertaining clients or bringing friends. Smaller groups and individual places work too. Tell us the number in your enquiry and we will come back with what is available.
How many places are left?
Our allocation for 2027 is limited and part of it has already gone. Rather than publish a number that goes out of date, enquire and we will tell you exactly what is left at the time you ask.
Why is there no price on this page?
What you pay moves with the number of places, where you sit in the room and what is left when you ask, so a single headline figure would be wrong for most people. Tell us who is coming and we will price the actual booking. There is no cost to asking and no obligation either way.
