Everything you need to know about the Austrian GP this weekend

Quick Summary

The Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring is set to be a pivotal weekend in the 2025 F1 season. Key storylines include the intense championship fight between McLaren teammates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, major car upgrades from Ferrari and Red Bull that could shift the competitive order, and Max Verstappen’s pursuit of a sixth victory at his home circuit.

The hills of Spielberg are alive with the sound of Formula 1, as the championship battle arrives at the Red Bull Ring for the Austrian Grand Prix. This weekend promises high drama and intense action, set against one of the most picturesque backdrops on the calendar. With a close-fought title race, major car upgrades being introduced up and down the pitlane, and several drivers with a point to prove, this is a race you will not want to miss.

At Above + Beyond, we specialise in creating unforgettable experiences at the world's greatest sporting events. Here is our guide to everything that matters this weekend in Austria.

The State of Play: A Championship Battle Full of Intrigue

The F1 paddock arrives in Austria with the fallout from a dramatic Canadian Grand Prix still fresh in the memory. The talking point, of course, was the collision between the two McLaren drivers. Lando Norris, in a move he later took full responsibility for, crashed into his teammate Oscar Piastri late in the race, forcing his own retirement while Piastri managed to bring his car home in fourth. The incident was a costly one, allowing Piastri to extend his lead in the Drivers' Championship to 22 points over Norris.

Norris now faces a mission of redemption in Austria, needing a strong result to regain lost ground. However, Piastri comes into the weekend as the bookmakers' favourite, and the intra-team battle at McLaren will be a fascinating storyline to follow.

They are not the only ones in the hunt. George Russell is on a high after his victory in Montreal and is the defending winner of the Austrian Grand Prix, making him a serious contender. And then there is Max Verstappen. While he sits at a 43-point deficit to Piastri, Verstappen has won at his team's home circuit five times (including one Styrian Grand Prix win). The sea of orange in the grandstands will be hoping he can begin his comeback here.

What's New? All Eyes on the Upgrades

The Austrian Grand Prix marks a key point in the season's development race, with several top teams bringing significant new parts to their cars. These upgrades could be crucial in shaping the pecking order for the next phase of the championship.

  • Ferrari: The Scuderia is introducing a substantial floor upgrade, including changes to the fences, body, and diffuser, in an effort to cure the inconsistencies that have hampered their season.
  • Red Bull: The home team is also bringing new developments, with modifications planned for their floor, wings, and front suspension.
  • McLaren: The championship leaders are not standing still, introducing a tweaked front suspension to maintain their edge.
  • Mercedes: The team’s recent upturn in form, culminating in Russell's win, was aided by a new floor and rear suspension package, showing just how effective these mid-season developments can be.

The Challenge: The Red Bull Ring

The circuit in Spielberg is a modern classic, known for its short lap times, dramatic elevation changes, and multiple overtaking opportunities. With three long straights and heavy braking zones, it is a track that consistently delivers exciting wheel-to-wheel racing. The pole position lap is expected to be in the 1:03s, meaning the action is relentless and small mistakes can be costly. Track limits are also a notorious challenge here, often leading to deleted lap times and penalties.

World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025

A Definitive Guide to the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025

The silent focus of a sprinter in the blocks. The explosive power of a thrower at the point of release. The tactical battle of wills over 10,000 metres. These are the moments, measured in fractions of seconds and centimetres, that define the pure, exhilarating drama of athletics.

In September 2025, these moments will find their grandest stage in Tokyo, a city poised to host a World Athletics Championships of unique significance. At Above + Beyond, our work is built on a deep appreciation for such pinnacle events, and for over 30 years, we have helped our clients experience them in a way that is truly seamless and memorable.

This guide provides a clear and comprehensive overview of what to expect from Tokyo 2025, from the key dates and events to the deeper context that makes this championship one to watch.

The Championships at a Glance

First, the essential details for your calendar:

  • Event: 20th World Athletics Championships
  • Host City: Tokyo, Japan
  • Dates: 13th – 21st September 2025
  • Venue: Japan National Stadium
  • Participants: Approximately 2,000 athletes from 200 nations
  • Disciplines: 49 track and field events

Why Tokyo 2025 Is More Than Just a Championship

Any World Athletics Championships is a spectacle, but the return to Tokyo carries a particular weight. The city last hosted this event in 1991, a legendary championship remembered for the monumental long jump duel between Mike Powell and Carl Lewis.

More recently, the Japan National Stadium was the stage for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Those were the "ghost games," held with spectator-less stands, where incredible athletic feats were met with echoing silence. For many athletes, 2025 will be their first opportunity to compete in this state-of-the-art stadium in front of a full, passionate crowd. It represents a promise fulfilled – a chance for the city and its visitors to finally celebrate world-class athletics with the vibrant atmosphere it deserves.

The Theatre of Sport: Events and Athletes

Across nine days of competition, 49 world titles will be decided. The schedule is a compelling narrative of raw speed, technical mastery, and profound endurance.

  • Track Events: The explosive 100m, 200m, and 400m sprints; the tactical middle-distance 800m and 1500m; the gruelling 5000m and 10,000m; plus the intricate rhythm of the hurdles and the drama of the 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
  • Field Events: The power and precision of the shot put, discus, hammer, and javelin throws; and the aerial grace of the long jump, triple jump, high jump, and pole vault.
  • Combined Events: The ultimate test of all-around athleticism, with the ten-discipline Decathlon for men and the seven-discipline Heptathlon for women.
  • Road Events: The marathon and race walks will take to the streets, offering a unique tour of Tokyo's iconic cityscape.

While final team rosters are confirmed closer to the date, the championships will feature a compelling mix of reigning Olympic and World champions, ambitious rising stars looking to make their mark, and national heroes carrying the hopes of their countries.

Glastonbury 2027 Luxury Camping Packages

Glastonbury Festival is a cornerstone of the British summer, a sprawling pop-up city in the heart of Somerset, built on music, art, and unforgettable shared moments. While a standard ticket to the event offers an adventure, those who have experienced this world-renowned festival know its challenges: the queues, the famously unpredictable weather, and the long walk back to a damp tent at the end of the night.

For many of our guests, there is a better way to enjoy the Glastonbury festival. Luxury camping offers a sense of peace and tranquility, providing a serene escape from the busy festival environment.

A hospitality package offers a fundamentally different experience. It isn’t about removing the authentic soul of the festival; it’s about providing a comfortable, seamless foundation from which to enjoy it fully, all while being surrounded by the beauty of nature and the natural landscape. This guide explains what to expect from a luxury accommodation package for Glastonbury 2027, answering the questions that matter most, and highlighting that the experience is designed for a small, select group of guests seeking exclusivity.

What Does Glastonbury Hospitality Truly Offer?

Beyond a simple festival ticket, a hospitality package is a comprehensive service designed for your comfort and convenience, with lots of extras and amenities included for guests. Imagine your arrival: you use a dedicated entrance, bypass the main queues, and are shown to your pre-prepared accommodation. It’s the ability to enjoy the raw energy of the Pyramid Stage by day, whilst having the opportunity to retreat to a peaceful sanctuary by night.

The core of the experience is removing the logistical friction of the festival. This allows our guests to focus their energy on the performances, explore the vast site, and create lasting memories. In addition, our hospitality package features exclusive amenities and services that set it apart, enhancing your overall festival experience.

Your On-site Accommodation

The thought of wrestling with tent poles in the rain is what puts many off a traditional festival weekend. With our hospitality options, your accommodation is ready and waiting for you. Set on land with a unique Somerset character, shaped by the local quarry and natural surroundings, there is extensive luxury camping and glamping at Glastonbury Festival.

They offer the perfect balance of festival authenticity and genuine comfort. All facilities and paths are well lit for your safety and comfort at night.

Yurts, Caravans, and Superior Options:

For even more space and luxury, a yurt provides a unique circular living space. Other options can include a static caravan or bespoke cabins, all chosen for their quality. This type of premium accommodation ensures you can properly relax and unwind after a long day at the festival.

After a busy festival day, relax and watch the sunset or stars from your accommodation, taking in the scenic beauty of the land around you.

The Defining Perks of Your Campsite

True luxury lies in the details. These are the elements that transform your Glastonbury experience from a test of endurance into a perfect weekend.

How do I ensure my luxury camping booking is legitimate?

Rugby World Cup 2027: A New Era Dawns in Australia

Get ready for a seismic shift in international rugby. The Rugby World Cup 2027, set to take place in Australia, is not just another tournament; it's a historic reimagining of rugby's pinnacle event. From an expanded format to a revamped qualification process and a much-anticipated later pool draw, RWC 2027 promises to be the most inclusive and competitive tournament to date, heralding a new era for the sport globally.

Mark Your Calendars: Key Dates and Venues

Australia will be the proud host nation for the 11th edition of the Men's Rugby World Cup, with the tournament kicking off on 1 October and culminating with the final on 13 November 2027. This will be the third time Australia has hosted the prestigious event, having previously co-hosted in 1987 and solely hosted in 2003.

Matches will be played across seven vibrant host cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle, Perth, Sydney, and Townsville. The honour of the opening match goes to Perth, while the grand final will unfold at Sydney's Stadium Australia, which will also host the bronze final and both semi-finals.

A Bold New Format: More Teams, More Knockout Thrills

One of the most significant changes for RWC 2027 is the expansion from 20 to 24 teams. This landmark decision reflects World Rugby's commitment to growing the game and providing more nations with the chance to compete on the biggest stage.

This revised structure not only offers more knockout matches but also creates more opportunities for emerging nations to make their mark.

This expansion brings a fresh pool and knockout structure:

  • Six pools of four teams each, moving away from the previous four pools of five.
  • A newly introduced Round of 16 will precede the quarter-finals.
  • The top two teams from each pool, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to this new stage.

A Shorter, Sharper Tournament

In a move designed to enhance player welfare and maintain fan engagement, the tournament window has been condensed from seven to six weeks. The pool phase will now be completed in four weeks instead of five, minimising non-match days to ensure a high-octane spectacle from start to finish.

Fairer Fields: The Reformed Pool Draw

Addressing past criticisms, the pool draw for RWC 2027 will take place much closer to the tournament, scheduled for December 2025. This ensures that seedings will more accurately reflect current world rankings, leading to more balanced pools and heightening the excitement. All 24 teams will be qualified before the draw takes place.

The Journey to RWC 2027: Qualification Explained

The road to Australia has already begun for many. Here's how the 24 spots are being filled:

  • Automatic Qualification: The top three teams from each pool at the Rugby World Cup 2023 (12 teams total) have secured their places, including champions South Africa, New Zealand, England, and host Australia.
  • Regional Qualifiers: A significant number of places will be determined by regional competitions in 2025, with spots allocated to the Rugby Europe Championship, Pacific Nations Cup, and the winners of the African, Asian, and South American championships.
  • Final Qualification Tournament: The last coveted spot will be decided in a four-team play-off tournament in November 2025, ensuring every World Rugby Regional Association has a pathway to qualify.
